Abstract

Augustana College’s WVIK is the campus public radio station. Originally only available on Augustana College's campus, it was later expanded to broadcast to the Quad Cities and surrounding community. Materials in this collection include listening guides, program guides, Top 40 lists, news clippings, brochures, surveys, advertisements, and tenth anniversary materials (brochures, news clippings, and announcements) as well as recorded programs from Rock Island Lines segment.

Abstract The Black Hawk Hiking Club Records, 1918-2004 and undated, contain meeting minutes, membership records, bulletins, scrapbooks, slides, and miscellaneous newspaper clippings and photographs. The Black Hawk Hiking Club was formed in 1920 as the Black Hawk Prairie Club, whose purpose was to promote outdoor recreation in the form of walks, outings, camping, and canoeing. Abstract

Students in Augustana College professor Lendol Calder’s spring 2004 history seminar interviewed Quad Cities residents about the 1980s economic recession. The recession negatively impacted the farming industry, affecting the large local economy that was based on farm machinery manufacturing. The “Last One Out of the Quad Cities, Turn Out the Lights” radio drama collection, 2004, includes interview transcripts and audiocassette recordings of interviews.

Quad City Symphony Orchestra papers

Abstract The Quad City Symphony Orchestra held its first concert on May 19, 1916 at the Burtis Opera House in Davenport, Iowa. At the time, the orchestra was known as the Tri-City Symphony Orchestra, and had a conductor, 60 musicians, and two soloists. The group changed its name to the Quad City Symphony in 1985.
